Performance Review:
As is usually the case I did no cutting with this sword since it belongs to a customer. However, I can say that this sword is a wicked piece of work. It’s short length makes it very handy and I believe that it would be very effective in either a stabbing or cutting role.  It is a very fast piece with an adequate point and recurved edges just right for cutting.
Appearance:
Albion did a fine job with this sturdy if plain piece. The blade was up to Albion’s usual fine standards with no uneveness or grind marks of any kind. The fit and finish of the blade and hilt components were very tight and felt rock solid. The wooden handle was nicely finished, although the light wood used for the grip does tend to show dirt and is not easily cleanable.
Conclusion:
This is a very effective and workmanlike version of the gladius. If I were in the market for a gladius the Allectus would be on my short list.
