Performance Review:
I have handled quite a few rapiers from Arms and Armor as well as antique smallswords, a case or rapies from Darkwood Armory and various and sundry other less notable reproductions. I can say that this rapier from Baltimore Knife and Sword compares very favorably with the best of these in the handling department. The sword is very light and nimble and the point tracks well. The swept hilt was constructed in such a manner as to make it non-restrictive to the sword’s owner. I feel that this is a very usable and user friendly rapier.

Appearance:
Based on pictures of other work from Baltimore Knife and Sword that I have seen I believe that this particular rapier is one of their more utilitarian models. The blade is nicely done, perfectly symmetrical without any noticeable grinds or ripples. The swept hilt is strongly if simply constructed with nice tight welds. It’s not terribly ornate but eminently functional. The same can be said of the simple pommel and
plain hardwood handle. In a single expression: simple but nice.

Conclusion:
I believe that this is one of the BKS user models, constructed for fencing practice and the like. The piece is simple and highly functional.  I believe that it would do quite well in its intended role. If one is looking for a nice user grade rapier I would give the Stagmer brothers at Baltimore Knife and Sword a look.
