Performance Review:
This sword is quite heavy but doesn’t perform to badly for all that. The sword tracks smoothly and although you are aware of its significant weight it does not overwhelm you as other swords of similar weight might. In large part this has to do with the weighty pommel which pulls the sword’s balance point back very close to the cross allowing the sword to be handier then it might otherwise be.
Appearance:
This one has your standard Del Tin fit and finish, that is to day the fit is very good and the finish is serviceable. There are minor casting pits on the pommel. The blade is nicely ground with a somewhat grey appearing finish. The handle wrap is quite nice and tightly applied.
Conclusion:
This sword is obviously Del Tin’s reendition of the Svante Nilson Sture sword. Although not true to the handling or appearance of the original in every detail, for the money this is a very nice piece and can be owned for a fraction of the price of the corresponding piece by other makers. If one is looking for a nice Swedish hand and a half sword on a budget I would definitely consider the Del Tin 5161.
