Performance Review:
This sword’s point of balance has been pulled back towards the cross by virtue of using a weighty pommel and probably more importantly an extra long grip. Due to these balances the sword handles quite nicely for a fantasy piece. In two hands it is fairly agile and due to its short length very quick.
Appearance:
This is yet another fine aesthetic effort from Mr. Samson. It is my understanding that the zoomorphic heads on the pommel are actually oriental tigers and they certainly add a sense of the exotic to the piece, if the blade alone were not enough to do that. The fit and finish as usual with Samson pieces is superb. The construction is nice and tight, there isn’t a ripple anywhere visible on the perfectly symmetrical blade and as previously noted the fittings are works of art in their own right.
Conclusion:
Mr. Samson has shown once again that he can make an outstanding fantasy sword. No one does a better job of putting different unique aesthetics together into a single beautiful package.
