Performance Review:
In dry handling this sword handled very well. It did not have some of the dynamic handling properties of its more expensive counterparts but it certainly handled acceptably and far better then some other swords I’ve examined that were in the same price range. I do question whether or not the grip would hold up under extended use. It is constructed of a corded wrap and seemed to me to be somewhat loose even though the sword I examined was brand new. I believe that if used this grip would likely only become more loose over time.
Appearance:
Visually this sword has a certain rugged appeal. Although the blade is fairly nondescript the I1 pommel was a nice touch and the cross was well executed. Fit and finish details were surprisingly good for this price range.
Conclusion:
This sword retails for between 150-200 dollars U.S. in that price range I was honestly not expecting much so this sword came as a pleasant surprise. If one is a fan of the movie I would recommend picking it up, it’s not an ultra user, but it appears and feels like it is usable (with the caveats about the grip wrap and assuming that the tang construction is robust) and it does deliver the look of the movie sword.
Update:
The Kingdom of heaven movie was quite some time ago now and this sword is no longer available from MRL.
