Performance Review:

This Albion XVIa is quite a large sword, but handles quite well for a sword of it’s dimensions. It tracks well and I have no doubt that it would be perfectly adequate for fencing in both armored and unarmored combat. It’s cross section does make it rather stiff reflecting upgrades to the armor at the time that this type was created.

Appearance:

It’s been a while since I’ve written an Albion review but their aesthetics haven’t changed in the least. They are precise, well fitted and tight in all regards. The grips are crisp and well wrapped and dyed well. This particular sword has seen some use with armored gauntlets and the leather on the grip had become scratched and discolored. A little leather dye and some new topcoat fixed that right up for the owner.

Conclusion:

This is a beautiful, well made, if fairly plain sword. It’s completely suitable for reenactment, target cutting and I suspect unarmored and armored combat. I would not hesitate to use this sword against soft and hard targets.
