Performance Review:
This sword is typical of Mr. Trim’s work. The English Knightly Sword is as is often the case with Angus Trim swords is balanced and weighted to be very fast. The sword can be swung effortlessly with one hand. It tracks very well and appears to have an adequate tip for thrusting.
Appearance:
This is a clean example of Mr. Trim’s work. There were no noticeable wobbles in the centerline and the tip was uniform and symmetrical. The cross and pommel on this sword have been blued which adds to its aesthetic appeal. This sword had also had a nice leather over twine wrap applied and instead of having the basic cross guard of years gone past this one has an ever so slightly bent Oakeshott type 4 cross.
Conclusion:
I’m not completely sure why this sword is called the “English Knightly Sword.” There is nothing typically English about it, and it could just as easily have been called by any other nationality. This of course has no bearing whatsoever on the basic value offered by this sword. It is another typical example of Mr. Trim’s and delivers the very things which he promises his customers: a quality performance sword and a reasonable price.
Update:
This review is of course, rather dated. Angus Trim is still out there making swords but not this sword. Still, his early efforts were nice swords for the money and worth picking up on the secondary market if the price is right.
