Performance Review:
This rapier performs how we imagine rapiers perform. It’s light and it’s lightning fast. It has quite a long blade as one would imagine a rapier should, but handles almost like a small sword. A purist will tell you that it is unrapierlike in how it performs and that’s probably true… but it’s still fantastic.
Appearance:
As per the usual the grip and fittings are excellent on this Cervenka piece. The wire handle wrap is gorgeous and tight and the swept hilt is nicely crafted with no discernible weld lines or casting flaws. Unlike some of the other Cervenka pieces I’ve reviewed the blade on this one is also very well done. It’s nicely polished and the lettering is crisp. It is also ground straight with no discernible wobbles or scratches.
Conclusion:
This might be the very nicest Cervenka sword that I’ve ever reviewed. Mr. Cervenka always does a magnificent job on the cutlery work but sometimes the performance and blades of his pieces leave a bit to be desired. Not this time. This is a very nice sword.
