Performance Review: This was a customer's sword and although he did give me permission to cut with it I refrained because I was not sure how to clean up the damascus blade if its polish was marred in any way. However I can say that the sword was light and balanced toward the the thick part of the cutting edge. It is a chopper and it lets you know that right away. The handle design was especially nice and locks the user's hand in place. I suspect that it would be hard to lose your grip on this sword in battle.
Appearance: Other Massey swords that I have handled had some imperfections in the symmetry and grinding. There were hammer marks visible as well. This piece showed absolutely none of those imperfections. The grinds were crisp and clean, the pattern welding pattern was beautiful. The furniture of the sword was also well done. A beautiful piece.
