Performance Review: This was an interesting sword in the area of handling. Most messers that I have handled very much felt like a chopping weapon. This one had that feel to it, however, it did not have that feeling of being a pure chopper like say the Arms and Armor De Medici falchion or one of Jody Samson's pieces, but felt like at need one could fence with this sword as well. All in all this felt like a sort of general purpose fighting weapon at home in the fist of either knight or peasant.

Appearance: The boys at OlliN did a great job on the fit and finish of this weapon. The blade was ground perfectly with no wobbles or assymetries. All junctures at the handle and cross were quite tight with no sloppy tolerances. The small knuckle brow on the side of the blade was pinned in place but the pinning was smoothed down flush with the cross on the opposite side and was barely noticeable. The handle slabs were very nicely finished.

Conclusion: In this second piece that I have handled by OlliN I have to say that the guys there know what they are doing both in terms of fit and finish and handling. This was a very nice piece of work and I heartily recommend it. I believe that this piece was designed as a custom piece however, if you wanted one I am sure the guys at OlliN would be happy to build another.
